Welcome to Aikido Seiryukan
Aikido is a highly evolved and effective modern martial art, with roots in Aikijutsu and other Samurai fighting arts of ancient Japan. It is characterized by its sweeping circular movements and throws. Aikido utilizes an opponents own strength against him, often times using centrifugal force creating significant power with little effort. For this reason, Aikido is considered to be one of the most difficult, but rewarding, martial arts to master.
Unlike other martial arts systems such as MMA and others (certainly not to minimize their effectiveness). In Aikido practice, the only competition is within yourself. When formal competition is eliminated, one does not have to concern oneself with STATUS, EGO AND RULE BOOKS. The focus is solely on self improvement, relationships with others, self awareness / control and mastery of the art.
Aikido Seiryukan practices the Yoshinkan stye of Aikido, as taught by Tsuneo Ando Shihan (master), chief Instructor at the Yoshinkan Aikido Headquarters Dojo in Tokyo, chief instructor at Ryu Headquarters Dojo and head of the non Profit Organization Yoshinkan Aikido Ryu.
With diligent training, skill is achieved which allows the practitioner to control and neutralize an attacker using his own energy against him, no matter how large or powerful the aggressor, or how small the Aikido practitioner is. It is for this reason, Yoshinkan Aikido is mandatory for all Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department female police officers and Tokyo Riot Police to attain the rank of shodan (1st degree black belt) to qualify for their positions.
My goal is to teach Yoshinkan Aikido with excellence and to the highest standard, as taught in Japan. All classes are taught in traditional Japanese style, using Japanese terminology giving a universal base for training around the world and in Japan. Whether you are new to martial arts or experienced in other martial art styles, i am confident you will have a rewarding and challenging experience at Aikido Seiryukan dojo. Students of all ages and experience are welcome at Aikido Seiryukan.
